MVPL and MVAC Present Photographic Art Exhibit, MV Women of Distinction

The Mount Vernon Public Library and the Mount Vernon Arts & Culture Society are pleased to present an exhibit of photographic art that honors 18 amazing women of Mount Vernon. These women work tirelessly to uplift our community in countless ways.

The theme of the exhibition is “Women of Distinction: Her Time Has ComeThe ‘Distinction’ exhibit will be held in the Rotunda of the Mount Vernon Public Library, 28 South First Avenue. The exhibit will open Friday, May 6 and run through Friday, July 8, 2022. The Opening Reception will take place on Saturday, May 22, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

“Whether it’s a mother, wife, sister, civic leader or advocate, we are surrounded by great women; it is a privilege that should not be taken for granted,” MVPL manager Timur Davis shared with Black Westchester.

The public is invited to “Distinction Photograph Exhibit” and join us for the reception as we honor these esteemed women. The exhibit will feature the following women: Mayor Shawyn Patterson Howard, Ruth Hassel Thompson, Leslie Alpert, Elvira Castillo, Brenda Smith, Earnestine Dixon, Serapher Conn, Roberta Apuzzo, Frances Wynn, Priscilla Edmund, Joyce Cole Fair, Deborah Norman , Mae Carpenter, Judge Nichelle Johnson, Mailyn Irizarry, Maura Reilly, Catherine Webb and Jennifer Lackard.
