Would you like to tell the story of your community or a local group? Or maybe celebrate local good things and learn new skills too?

If you want to get more involved in what’s happening locally, our FREE West Leeds Expedition the community reporter training course is for you.

Join our growing group of community journalistswho have contributed over 1,000 articles over the past three years.

The fun and friendly five-week course will take place in our new Community Newsroom at the Bramley Lawn Social Center and is aimed at beginners.

West Leeds Dispatch has a community newsroom in Bramley Lawn.

It walks you through photography, interviews, writing an article and headline, where to find news, podcasts and more. It is led by veteran journalist and speaker John Baron, editor and co-founder of West Leeds Expedition.

And what’s good is that registration is free! Plus, you’ll be part of a growing movement of community journalists across West Leeds.

Our free course is aimed at beginners and takes place over FIVE two-hour sessions. There will be plenty of tea, coffee, cakes and cookies – and it will look great on your CV as you learn transferable skills that you can use for work or study.

It spins in our new community newsroom at the Bramley Lawn Social Centre, near Stanningley Road, on Thursdays June 2, 9, 23, 30 and July 7, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. (note the break on June 16).
